Once you understand that you don't progress your meter if you don't place tiles there's nothing to stop you from looping forever while you fill the whole map with sand dunes.Starting off strong, Microsoft announced that indie darling Loop Hero - an endlessly replayable card-based RPG - is now available on Game Pass. The only thing that really drags the experience down is that forests and deserts have 2 variants of tiles, which ultimately incentivizes you to just sit there waiting forever for the better ones to drop.

There are (or were, idk if it gets updates) very clearly a few optimal strategies to winning and once you discover those you're kinda just done. It's a fun auto-battling RPG while it lasts, with no real reason to keep playing after defeating the final boss, which I guess is fine. It's not permadeath because you carry over tons of resources between runs, and it's hardly random at all because you have complete control over your deck and the bosses are all set encounters.
